Dental Hygiene

There are very few things more important in life than your well-being and that of your family. A healthy smile starts with regular dental cleanings and dental hygiene. We look forward to seeing you every 6 months and promise to care for your family as you care for your family.

Dental Implants

If you’re missing one or more teeth, a dental implant is the next best thing to your original tooth. We use dental implants to restore the look, feel, and function of your smile. Many patients find they can continue to eat many if not all of their favorite foods after their dental implants.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are an excellent restorative option to enhance your smile. If you suffer from damaged, misshapen or discolored teeth, crowns may be the perfect solution for you. Our advanced CEREC technology allows us to create beautiful, durable crowns that match your teeth in a single visit!

Why get Dental Crowns?

Common reasons you may need crowns include:

  • Restoring damaged teeth
  • Protecting weakened or decayed teeth
  • Supporting a dental bridge
  • Covering a dental implant
  • Restoring a misshapen or discolored tooth

Fillings

If you have one or more cavities, fillings can be a simple and effective solution to restore your teeth and prevent further decay. With composite resins and porcelain filling options, the dentists at Lanier Dental Group make fillings quick, easy, and comfortable. If you are experiencing pain in the teeth or gums, contact us to schedule an appointment so we can find the perfect plan to meet your needs and budget.

How do I know if I need fillings?

If you have one or more cavities, you may need fillings. A dentist must take a close look at your mouth and diagnose the issue. While cavities sometimes show little to no symptoms, you may experience the following:

  • Toothache & pain when biting down
  • Tooth sensitivity to pressure or temperature
  • Noticeable pits in your teeth
  • Colored stains on the surface of your teeth

Bridges

If you suffer from one or more missing teeth, it is very important to fill in these gaps as soon as possible. The longer you go with missing teeth, the more your dental health will degrade over time. Dental bridges may be a great option for you to restore your smile—learn more about what bridges can do for you!

Why get Dental Bridges?

If you are missing teeth or need to have teeth removed, you may need a bridge to fill in the gap. Missing teeth may be caused by:

  • Restoring damaged teeth
  • Protecting weakened or decayed teeth
  • Supporting a dental bridge
  • Covering a dental implant
  • Restoring a misshapen or discolored tooth

Root Canals

The innermost portion of each tooth is comprised of connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves. This collection of tissues is called the “pulp.” If the pulp dies or becomes infected, the diseased tissue must be removed to halt the infection. If the patient desires to retain the tooth, endodontic therapy needs to be performed. This care procedure was formerly known as a “root canal.” Please contact our Gainesville, GA office for an evaluation of treatment or cost if you experience any of the symptoms below.

Common causes for the need to see an endodontist for endodontics treatment like a root canal:
  • Inflamed/infected tooth pulp
  • Severe sensitivity to hot and cold elements
  • Tooth decay
  • Chipped or broken tooth
  • Blow to the tooth
  • Swelling or tenderness near the infected tooth
  • Repeated dental procedures on a tooth

Alternatives to Dental Implants

If you are considering dental implants, you should also be aware of the alternatives available. Knowing your options will allow you to make an informed decision. Call our office to schedule a consultation so we can better determine which of these options may work for you. We can also answer questions regarding costs, healing time, and long-term prognosis of each option.

Bridges

When you are missing a single tooth, a bridge is the most common alternative to a dental implant. Like the name implies, a bridge is a prosthetic device that spans the gap between the adjacent teeth on either side. Bridges are generally less expensive than implants, but the drawback is the need to crown the adjacent teeth. If those teeth are otherwise healthy, we are altering them unnecessarily, except for the sake of the bridge. With proper care and hygiene, you can expect bridges to last 10-15 years on average.

Partials

When several teeth in the same area are missing or damaged, your next best option after implants is a partial. A partial, or “partial denture,” is a prosthetic piece that takes the place of the missing natural teeth. With a partial, we can preserve all healthy teeth, and custom create the prosthetic to replace only the teeth we need to.

Dentures

If all your upper or lower teeth are gone or heavily damaged, and a partial is not sufficient, your next option is to consider dentures. With complete/ full denture and partial denture options, dentures can replace your upper or lower (or all) teeth. With an implant-supported denture, we create the prosthetic appliance to snap onto the implants, which ensure a secure fit. Traditional dentures are made the same way, but without the implant component.
