What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is an area of oral health care that’s aimed at enhancing the appearance of teeth, gums, and surrounding facial tissues.
At Lanier Dental Group, our Gainesville cosmetic dentistry options are tailored to the unique needs of each patient. Before scheduling a consultation, it’s important to understand what cosmetic dentistry is and how it relates to services you may have had in the past.
It Uses Aesthetically Pleasing Materials
When you need a cavity filled, tooth restored with a crown, or a missing tooth replaced, our cosmetic dentists are just as concerned with the appearance of your restoration as they are its function.
For example, your cosmetic filling will be carefully color matched so that the materials blend in with the tooth structure around it. We won’t use unsightly metal (amalgam/mercury) materials that detract from your smile’s appearance.
The same can be said for ceramic crowns. Instead of a metal base, we select solid porcelain crowns without any visible metals. That way there’s no dark grey lines around the edges of your new “cap”.
It Incorporates Facial Aesthetics
Cosmetic dentistry goes beyond the boundaries of your teeth and gums. By incorporating other orofacial strategies such as dermal fillers and cosmetic injectables like Botox, cosmetic dentistry also enhances the appearance of your lips, cheeks, and face.
At Lanier Dental Group, our cosmetic dentists may choose to add Botox onto your procedure to minimize the effects of a “gummy smile” or deep creases around your mouth.
Botox isn’t just useful for covering up Crow’s feet or forehead wrinkles; it can also be used to successfully manage migraines and TMJ disorder.
It’s an Elective Procedure
Strictly speaking, cosmetic dentistry procedures that aren’t meant for repairing teeth are considered elective. What that means is they aren’t medically necessary. Rather, something like teeth whitening or veneers is a treatment you can choose to have at any time, as long as your teeth are healthy.
Since elective cosmetic treatments don’t treat disease, your dental insurance treats them differently than a conventional cosmetic restoration (like a crown or filling.)
You Want an Experienced Dentist
Not all general or family dentists are comfortable performing smile makeovers. If you need extensive cosmetic dentistry treatment or want the best results possible, you’ll want to visit a cosmetic dentist with experience in that particular procedure.
Why Choose Lanier Dental Group
At Lanier Dental Group, our Gainesville cosmetic dentists incorporate aesthetic strategies into each restorative and elective service that we offer. So, whether you need a tooth repaired or a problem area covered up, we have a variety of different strategies to consider.
With years of experience in cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic materials, we can ensure you’ll receive the best possible care and smile outcome.

They have a curtious staff who is very knowledgeable in what they do. Unlike other experiances elsewhere they made me feel like a part of the group keeping me informed at all times of what was going on. This has been my only visit but I'd recommend them . read lesskasey M.09/07/19

I have moderate dental anxiety and started seeing Dr. Evans at her Gainesville practice two years ago.
Last year, my family and I moved out of state, but because of the quality of Dr. Evans' care,
her concern for my anxiety, and her commitment to exceptional service from start to finish,
I now drive six hours from North Carolina just to be seen and treated by Dr. Evans.
Yeah, she's that good. read lessJessica C.27/07/16

Couldn't sleep for 2 nights ...aspirin and ibuprofen not enough....antibiotics not working from 1st dental office before yours that I went to...first place took Xrays and said they would not pull it for 3 weeks, "once infection was gone". Came to your office next day in sheer misery and you number and removed it. Good aftercare instructions and upgraded antibiotics helped get me out of pain. I will return to this office...thanks for your empathy with my pain!! read lessVictoria F.18/08/19
